About Ubuntu

I am because we are.

Ubuntu is often translated as “I am because we are.” It speaks to shared humanity, responsibility and belonging. That spirit shapes the festival: a place where stories are watched together, discussed together and carried back into the city.

Ubuntu Malmö Film Festival brings African and Afro-Swedish storytelling to Malmö through features, documentaries and shorts, with room for talks, panels, music and shared cultural memory.
